Patrick Delcroix

Delcroix Patrick2Patrick Delcroix trained at the Centre International de danse Rosella Hightower in Cannes. In 1982 he gained his first contract with the Iwanson Dance Company. In 1985 he left to join the Scapino Ballet (Netherlands) where he met Jiri Kylian who had just choreographed "Piccolo mondo" for the company's 40th anniversary. The following year Patrick joined the Netherlands Dance Theatre where he danced the full repertoire and worked with many celebrated figures from the dance world including Jiri Kylian, Mats Ek, William Forsythe, Edouard Lock, Ohad Naharin, Hans van Manen, Nacho Duato.
Patrick began as a choreographer in the context of annual workshops with NDT. His first work was noticed by the director of Djazzex (Netherlands) who offered him the opportunity to create "Sac de noeuds" in 1990 and "Bidonville" in 1993.
Ever since he began, Patrick has regularly choreographed works for all three companies of the Netherlands Dance Theatre as well as for Introdans (Netherlands), Cisne Negro (Brazil), Artscape and Capetown City Ballet (South Africa), Prague Ballet, Ballet Jazz de Montréal (Canada), Itzdansa (Spain)...
In 2001 the French government made him a "Chevalier" in the Order of Arts and Letters in recognition of his career as a dancer and a choreographer.
In April 2003 Patrick Delcroix choreographed a piece for Vienna Opera Ballet directed by Renato Zanella.
