Programmes and Class Schedule

Three learning programmes are offered by the Ecole de Danse de Genève.

1. LEISURE

For all students who have no wish to follow dance as a vocation nor want to dedicate too many hours but neverless want to follow evolving and fulfilling classes in their chosen style(s). For this s programme only the minimum number of classes per week is required.

2.INTENSIVE

From Niveau 3, when a student decides to take above the minimum required classes, he/she enters the intensive programme. This allows students to deepen their art and teachers a bandter following. This stream also allows students as well as the directors to monitor achievements faced with stricter requirements with a view to vocational studies , but without that commitment. It can also simply be considered as a way to fully engage with dance for pure pleasure in reaching a good level.

3.PRE PROFESSIONAL

This programme is reserve for students showing particular motivation and adequate talent to consider a vocation in dance. These students must officially request to be admitted to this programme, with the directors' decision being final.

BOYS: White tight-fitting top, grey tights, white ballet shoes
GIRLS: Pink tights with feet, pink canvas ballet shoes

Préparation Danse Contemporaine: same top + black jazz pants
Contemporain Niv 5 et 6: any dance wear

Long hair must be neatly tied up.

Course Plan for Children & Teens

The school is open to all children from the age of 5 where an approach to dance which will gently lead the student to classical ballet and contemporary dance techniques.

Depending on the amount of weekly lessons taken, a student will be considered for one of three course programmes: leisure (loisir), intensive or Pre-Professional.

Children & Teens Course

Classes are open to all children and teens from the age of 5.

The school offers to both girls and boys basic training in classical ballet and contemporary dance techniques.
The different programmes (leisure, intensive, pre-professional) allow training to be personalised.

OBJECTIVES AND GOALS

General objective

To offer students a basic training in ballet and contemporary dance.

Goals towards children

Giving astute technique and body awareness whilst preserving their natural way of moving.

Developping their personality, curiosity, creativity and artistic sense.

Bringing them the necessary knowledge to allow them to consider dance as an art and a career.

Working on promoting the field.

Enrollment for children and teens section

The programme for the upcoming school year 2019-2020 as well as the application form will be available during May.

Enrollment is for the whole school year, from september to June (inculded). If you do not wish for your enrollment to be renewed, please annouce this in writing before 1st June of the current year. 

Fee rebate

As a member of the CEGM (Confédération des Ecoles de Musique Dyears olde Théâtre and Rythmique Jacques Dalcroze) parents of students at the Ecole de Dyears olde de Genève with limited financial meyears old can apply for a fee rebate (exonération) for the classes of their child.
